Understanding Space and Kapp Essentials

As discussed in Understanding the Platform, Spaces are a way of providing multi-tenancy to the Request component of the platform. These are the primary divisions in the front end of the platform. Within the spaces are Kapps, or kinetic applications. Kapps are, primarily, a collection of forms that perform or provide a particular function.

Spaces contain items that will be used across all kapps, such as:

  • Users
  • Teams
  • Bridges (Front-end display & search integrations)
  • Kapp security defaults

Meanwhile, kapps contain forms and form and submission related attributes, security definitions, and webhooks that allows them to be able to provide their application functionality. Kapps also leverage the users, teams, and bridges in their space.
