Basic features of the Form Builder and Form basics.
Create Your First Form
You want to create a new form for your organization. There are three main ways to this, create from scratch, import from another system, and clone.
Start on the Services|Form List. This console has links to both Create and Import a Form. Cloning a Form is available from the dropdown on the right of the Form list, or the Overview consoles because it is directly related to a specific Form.
Cloning a Form
Cloning is the quickest and easiest way to create a new form. You gain the advantage of copying all the existing functionality and fields of an existing form. You just need to change the parts you want for your new form. Many customers use a template with all the basic fields and functionality in place and all new forms are cloned from that basic template.
Name - Displayed name of the Form.
Slug - unique identifier for the Form. Initially created based on the Name and limited to URL safe characters.
After creation the Overview tab opens. You can change any other values of your form on the General tab.
- Description - text describing the purpose, customer, or other features of the Form.
- Status - default is New. Other options are Active, Inactive, and Delete.
- Type - additional information used by the bundle or other Kapp specific options. Type options are configured on the Setup console.
- Submission Label
Now you can enter the Builder and make specific changes.
Importing a Form is a way to copy a form from another environment. Unlike Cloning, you will get the exact form, not a copy with a new name. Be aware that this can overwrite an existing form.
Click on the Import Form button and you have a field where you can drag an export of an existing form. The form is opened as json, and then you can click on the Import Form button.
If there is an existing form with that slug, you will have to confirm the overwrite, otherwise you are taken to the Overview tab.
