Models

Overview

Abstract description of the data and qualifications returned by a bridge.

Model Details

Every collection of data from a specific bridge requires it's own Model. A Model starts as an abstract expression of the data that is used creating the Form, The Mapping, in the next article, is the concrete relationship of the data to the mapping using specific syntax to the data being used.

Selecting Models brings up a list of all the current Models.

To add a new Model, type in the name of the model and click the +Add Model button at the bottom of the list.

The new Model is added to the list and can be edited by clicking name of the model.

There are two main parts of a Model, the Qualification and the Attributes.

Qualifications represent look ups or searches against the data source from the bridge. It could be All Active Employees, or Location by Site number for example.

Since this is an abstract representation, a qualification just needs a descriptive name, a setting for number of results (single or multiple), and any parameters (added last).

To add a new qualification, enter the name and click the +Add Qualification button.

Click on parameters to add one or more parameters. Each parameter just needs a name (unique for this model) and any description you want to go with it. You are not required to have parameters. The specific search with syntax and any possible data are entered in the Mappings console.

Attributes represent the individual pieces of data that are returned by the qualification. Since they are just abstract representations, each attribute is just a name that gets a more concrete link under Mappings. Enter a name for each desired attribute and click the +Add Attribute button.

Data Viewer is a library which provides a reusable and constant way to build search functionality into a form and display the results. Commonly used behavior is included in the functionality (ie: Set field values in a row or list selection)  Results can be displayed as a Table or List. Custom Renderers may also be created to display search results in an alternate format. The library is configuration driven, reducing the need to create JS when creating simple tables from search results.

Using a Bridge Search to Populate Questions using a Mobile Friendly Table
This solution describes how to use bridging to do a people search, populating fields on the service item using a bridge request based on criteria the user provides. If there is more than one response to the search, a table is displayed for the user to select the correct individual from. This table uses a mobile friendly version of datatables called FooTables.
